The Digital Data Chain Consortium was formed by the joining of the following three organisations:

DIN SPEC 91406 Consortium

The DIN SPEC 91406 Consortium was founded on 23 January 2019 by 28 companies, including plant operators and technology suppliers to the process industry.
The aim of the consortium was to create a specification for a globally unique ID for the identification of physical objects. This globally unique ID should enable simple and robust identification of objects throughout their complete life cycle.
The "DIN SPEC 91406:2019-12.Automatic identification of physical objects and physical object information in IT systems, especially IoT systems" was published in December 2019.

VDI Technical Committee 2770

The VDI Technical Committee 2770 was founded on 24 February 2016 by 17 companies, including plant operators and technology suppliers in the process industry.
The aim of the expert committee was to create a guideline for the minimum requirements for technical documentation of technical objects. The guideline specifies which ISO/IEC standards should be applied for which aspect of technical documentation. This includes specifications for:
the file format of the documents,
the metadata for the documents and
the structuring and classification of the documents.
The "VDI Guideline 2770 Sheet 1:2020-04 Operation of process plants - Minimum requirements for digital manufacturer information for the process industry - Fundamentals" was published in April 2020.

Working Group Digital Platforms

The Working group Digital Platforms for Asset Management and Maintenance in the Process Industry was founded on 21 September 2017 by 9 plant operators in the process industry.
The aim of the working group was to jointly define the requirements for digital platforms for asset management and maintenance in the process industry and to exchange experiences on the use of digital platforms in asset management and maintenance of production plants in the process industry.
